Ok, so today I went to the dentist. When I shut the car off, the blower
motor stayed on full blast. I attempted to start the car, thinking maybe
it was a glitch or something. But nope, I tried shutting it off by hitting
the button, then it just switches from blowing out of the top vents
to blowing out to the windshield. I had to pull the fuse out so the
battery wouldn't die. Anyway one else have this problem???
I only have 3000 miles on the truck. I already set up an appt
to bring her in tomorrow. Hopefully I can have some info if
anyone else had this happen to them. :D

Condition
Some customers may comment that the blower motor is inoperative or continues to run after the vehicle has been shut off.

Cause
These conditions may be caused by a blower motor control module failure. This failure may occur when the vehicle is operated in ambient temperature conditions of -23°C (-10°F) or below.

Correction
Important: Replace the blower motor control module if the vehicle experienced a blower motor control module failure in extremely cold ambient temperature conditions.

Technicians are to replace the blower motor control module, also called the Linear Power Module (LPM), with the P/N listed below. Refer to either the Blower Motor Control Processor Replacement or Blower Motor Processor Replacement-Auxiliary procedures in SI. After replacement of the blower motor control module, the customer may notice a slightly higher than expected blower motor speed at any of the blower speed settings.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

I doubt it was that cold in NY this time of year. Also, he has an '08. That TSB only covers up to '07. All that said, I wouldn't be surprised if that's his problem.

No difference between parts catalog on 07 or 08 blower control module. I have seen it before, have them replace the module and you will be fine.

No difference between 2002 through 2008 with the paint chipping, either. But, the dealers need the updated TSB each year before they'll do the obvious.

Unfortunately, you are right most people wont do things unless slapped in the face with it, and then sometimes you still you cant get them to see things.

Yeah, it was 70 degrees when this happened. So I doubt it's the extremely low temp. Hopefully they
can fix it today, but more than likely they are probably going to have to order the part. I'm still
waiting for them to call me back.

UPDATE!!! Guess what?? They didn't fix the truck yet. They told me
they were still "trying to figure out the problem" and that "your
truck is too new so my technicians are trying to download the
schematics." Then I call back later on and they told me "We
downloaded the schematics, but the computer we downloaded
it on, the printer doesn't work." What kind of half assed operation
are you guys running here. Needless to say my truck has to
spend the weekend at the dealership and wait til Monday. At least
they gave me a loaner car to take home for the weekend. I can't
wait to hear what they have to tell me on Monday. I printed out the
information at the blower motor module failure to give to them on
Monday, maybe that might set off a lightbulb, a dim light, but a light
none the less!!!!
